Consumers who wish to shop for Wendell August’s line of all American made gifts can visit http://www.MadeInAmericeStore.com

Wendell August is America’s oldest and largest forge, manufacturing hand-made metal ware and gift ware with aluminum since 1923. An active member of the coal industry, Wendell August decided to start the gift company at the age of 38 in Brockway, Pennsylvania. August partnered up with Ottone Pisoni, a blacksmith in the same coal mine, after he was so impressed with Pisoni’s work of hand-forged latches for his home.

August was so inspired by the low cost and high quality of Pisoni’s work that he started an ironware business. Pisoni and August handcrafted their first product line to include fireplace andirons, candlesticks, lighting standards, doorknockers, latches, railing and grilles for windows and doors.

Today, Wendell August still uses their original painstaking, eight-step process to manufacture each heirloom in aluminum. The eight steps include die engraving, material selection and cutting, repousse, surface anvil-ing, edging, carbon coloring, a three stage polishing process and forming.

The Made In America Store also offers more great Mother’s Day gifts including candles, clothes and decorations. Consumers can visit http://www.MadeInAmericaStore.com to find the full list of gifts and products.

The Made In America Store is located at 900 Maple Road in Elma, New York and is committed to selling 100% American manufactured products.

– Forget Extensive Maternity Leaves, Flexible Working Hours are a Better Gift -

NEW YORK, May 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — In celebration of Mother’s Day on May 13th, TheLadders released a new survey today revealing that working mothers care more about having flexible hours after returning to work than spending more time at home while on leave. In fact, when asked to prioritize six “work situations” as a working mother, the majority (44%) chose flexibility as most important versus only 5% who said they would opt for longer maternity leave. TheLadders, the most comprehensive job-matching service for career-driven professionals, surveyed more than 250 women who are, or soon will be, working mothers.

In addition to flexible working hours and extensive time off, working mothers ranked the scenarios as follows: ability to work from home (29%), convenient working hours (20%), on-site day care (2%), and generous paternity leave (0%). The female professionals surveyed are in the following industries: construction, education, engineering, finance, human resources, law, marketing, medical/science, operations, real estate, sales and technology.

“Since launching almost a decade ago, we have seen a growing desire for job seekers to work in – and return to – an environment that understands and supports their personal values,” said Alex Douzet, Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder of TheLadders. “It is clear from our Mother’s Day survey that working mothers are eager to return to the office when it is a comfortable and rewarding transition. Employer sensitivity for the unique needs of working mothers will help drive employee satisfaction and retention.”

TheLadders Mother’s Day survey also revealed other key learnings:

•She works hard for the money. The number-one reason respondents returned to work is for “financial reasons,” although resuming employment because they “enjoy their career” is a close second. Needing benefits (health/child care) and just wanting to “get out of the house” were less motivating rationale.
•You like me, you really like me. When asked how having a child impacts the way that working mothers feel they are regarded by coworkers, almost half (42%) felt their colleagues are “supportive and understanding,” while 18% believe that others “behaved the same.” Almost a quarter (24%) said their coworkers are “supportive, but don’t understand my situation” and a frustrated 16% said their teammates are “resentful of my competing priorities or schedule.”
•It’s a balancing act. Balancing a career and a family is a huge struggle for 87% of respondents with 55% admitting that “excelling at both is overwhelming,” 13% “struggled at first, but now it’s under control,” 16% “always put family first and work has suffered for it,” and 3% “always put work first and family has suffered for it.”
On an ongoing basis, TheLadders conducts primary user-experience research and analyzes quantitative data provided by its more than five million members to gauge current behavioral trends in the job-search process. TheLadders uses this research to gain valuable insights, which it uses to improve the customer experience and provide expert advice to the marketplace. An infographic illustrating TheLadders Mother’s Day survey can be downloaded at TheLadders Blog.

BENTON HARBOR, Mich., May 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Why take mom out on the day the National Restaurant Association declares the busiest restaurant day of the year when you can avoid the crowds, and show some serious love, by cooking her a homemade meal instead? The folks at KitchenAid believe more of us should cook for our moms on Mother’s Day, and they’ve enlisted a number of culinary notables to help spread the word.

“I cooked often for my mother, whose own cooking inspired me to become a chef,” says TV cooking show host Jacques Pepin . “Preparing her favorite dishes just the way she made them was a way to show my gratitude, and that I was paying attention while she was cooking for me all those years.”

Pepin, along with award-winning cookbook author Dorie Greenspan and Buddy Valastro of TLC’s “Cake Boss,” are sharing recipes they’ve cooked for their moms via Facebook.com/KitchenAid. Mother’s Day recipes and menu ideas also will be contributed by cookbook author Cristina Ferrare of CristinaFerrareCooks.com; Ferrare’s daughter Alex Thomopoulos of Against-TheGrain.com; cookbook author Pam Anderson and her two daughters, Maggy and Sharon of ThreeManyCooks.com; and foodie/mom Jenny Flake of Picky-Palate.com.

Raising funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer – a cause close to the hearts of so many mothers – is a way to celebrate moms everywhere and make the day even more special. Through its Cook for the Cure® program, which has generated more than $8 million for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, KitchenAid offers several ways to support the cause as part of a Mother’s Day celebration.

One option is to host a Mother’s Day meal, ask guests to contribute to the cause and, in honor of mom, donate the funds to Susan G. Komen using a form available at tinyurl.com/DonationKomen. For the same amount that might have been spent on flowers, wine or a restaurant tab, families can make a meaningful contribution on her behalf.

Another option is to present mom with an individually-numbered serving platter created by KitchenAid and Villeroy & Boch, with artwork by Pepin, and asking her to pass it to a friend or loved one with a homemade culinary creation. Each time the platter is passed and registered at CookfortheCure.com, KitchenAid will make a $5 donation to Komen to help fund innovative research and life-saving community programs. Supporters of this “Pass the Plate” initiative can even track the travels of their platter via the web site. The platter is available for $24.95 at ShopKitchenAid.com and Villeroy & Boch stores.

And finally, for Mother’s Day gift givers, KitchenAid offers a collection of pink products that celebrate and help support the Cook for the Cure program. They include the iconic KitchenAid Stand Mixer in soft or bold pink, as well as blenders, hand mixers and more than a dozen culinary gadgets.

About KitchenAid: Since the introduction of its legendary stand mixer in 1919 and first dishwasher in 1949, KitchenAid has built on the legacy of these icons to create a complete line of products designed for cooks. Today, the KitchenAid brand offers virtually every essential for the well-equipped kitchen with a collection that includes everything from countertop appliances to cookware, ranges to refrigerators, and whisks to wine cellars. In connection with the Cook for the Cure® program, KitchenAid will donate a minimum of $450,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® in 2012. Now in its eleventh year, this partnership has raised over $8 million to help find a cure for breast cancer. To learn why chefs choose KitchenAid for their homes more than any other brand*, visit www.KitchenAid.com or join us at http://facebook.com/KitchenAid and http://twitter.com/KitchenAidUSA.

About Susan G. Komen for the Cure: Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, which is now the world’s largest breast cancer organization and the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer with more than $1.9 billion invested to date. Grown-up coloring book launches just in time for Mother’s Day

IRVINE, Calif., May 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Who says you have to be a kid to color? Moms love to color too! That’s why Tami Newcomb, adult colorist, created Color Your Way to Calm, a coloring book for finding peace in the middle of your present, and coincidentally the perfect gift this Mother’s Day.

“I created Color Your Way books in order to bring coloring for grownups out of the closet and into the cool, mainstream waters,” said Newcomb. “Today, as a nearly 50-year-old ‘grownup,’ coloring still makes me smile and offers a respite from this over-buzzed-booked-and-burdened world.”

Color Your Way to Calm consists of 25 inspired thoughts and illustrations packaged with crayons, plus several pages to do as you please. It can be a mom’s very own palette of simple, peaceful, pleasure to let go, ponder, forget, remember, cry, laugh, and most of all, have fun.

“Sometimes when I need to escape, I color my kids’ books,” said Anissa Zientara, a San Francisco mother of two. “This book is for me to color after the kids are in bed. I can unwind and get lost with images and expressions that I can better relate to.”

For Everything Moms Need to Hear, There’s a Hallmark Card to Help Say It

KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Times have changed since the first Mother’s Day was celebrated nearly 100 years ago, but one thing has remained the same — all moms have something they need to hear. And, for everything moms need to hear, there’s a Hallmark card to help say it. Mother’s Day is May 13, and Hallmark offers nearly 1,000 Mother’s Day cards — 1,000 ways to tell a mom, grandma, daughter or mother figure that she made you who you are today; that she’s ready to be a mom; that even though you’re not related by blood, she’s connected to your heart; or that, although she’s not perfect, she’s perfectly yours.

“It’s easy to get caught up in the blur of life and neglect to tell people what they mean to you,” said Hallmark greeting card writer and mom, Molly Wigand. “But these relationships are what make life worth living. Mother’s Day provides a perfect opportunity to pause, and a Hallmark card serves a great way to tell mom what she needs to hear on Mother’s Day and any day.”

Guided by consumer research, Hallmark’s Mother’s Day card offering includes special wishes for a variety of familial situations, as well as innovations as unique as consumers’ relationships. The Nature’s Sketchbook collection by Marjolein Bastin features 16 new exquisitely crafted paper designs and fresh messages. More than 50 Mother’s Day cards feature technology, such as motion, sound, fiber optics and lights. With a touch of a button, a mom’s card can come to life with cut-out characters or lights moving in tune with music.

Pet-loving moms and grandmas will enjoy consumer-created cards featuring four-legged furry friends and funny messages. This collection was created through Hallmark’s Mother’s Day Unleashed Contest. For those looking for sophisticated greetings, Hallmark offers 30 highly-crafted Boutique Greetings which showcase adornments, such as gems and other creative details.

Hallmark.com also offers a fun way to put a personalized touch on Mother’s Day cards. With just a few clicks on Hallmark.com, consumers can pick their favorite card design, customize it with a photo of them and their moms and add a personal message to create Mother’s Day cards that cannot be found anywhere else. To check out the full line of Mother’s Day greetings, visit your local Hallmark Gold Crown store, Hallmark.com or a participating Hallmark retailer.

In addition to cards, Hallmark offers a variety of gifts for Mother’s Day, including:

Hallmark Recordable Artwork: For parents who want to preserve their children’s stories before the memories are gone forever, Hallmark offers Recordable Artwork. Kids can turn a work of art into a Mother’s Day masterpiece by recording a special message just for mom. Hallmark’s new Recordable Artwork line features four products — Canvas Art Kit, Art Gift Book, Recordable Magnetic Photo Clips, Recordable Frame Cards
Conversations to Keep™ Recordable Books: Filled with open-ended questions that spark imaginative answers, Conversations to Keep™ Recordable Books capture answers only kids can give. Hallmark offers two new titles: “Mom & Me” and “Grandma & Me” for this Mother’s Day.
Blooming Expressions: New in 2012 and the first of its kind, Hallmark Blooming Expressions allow people to deliver love and appreciation to mom, grandma, a spouse, friend, a mother-in-law, etc., on Mother’s Day and any day of the year. With the press of a button, a flower blooms to reveal a special message. The best part — the flower closes and can bloom repeatedly.

World Vision’s Gift Catalog Meaningful Gifts – Different Way to Honor Mom

SEATTLE, April 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — With more than $16.3 billion expected to be spent on Mother’s Day* this year, a new study reveals almost one third of moms in America (31 percent) say they often pretend to like the Mother’s Day gifts they typically receive from their family. According to the study commissioned by international Christian charity World Vision and conducted on-line by Harris Interactive, nearly 2 in 3 U.S. moms (64 percent) say they would prefer to receive a meaningful gift that would help someone else instead of a traditional Mother’s Day gift such as flowers or a card. The survey also found most adults who have a mother or mother figure (58 percent) would like to honor mom with a gift empowering to other mothers.

New Survey Key Findings:
Honesty Most Important Lesson Americans Learned from Mom Yet You Can’t Always Trust Your Mom’s Reaction on Mother’s Day

World Vision’s 2012 Spring/Summer Gift Catalog is full of meaningful gifts. “This survey shows what moms really want,” says Traci Coker, World Vision-US Gift Catalog Senior Director. “With all the money spent on Mother’s Day gifts we want those gifts to have impact.”

Last year alone, the World Vision U.S. Gift Catalog raised more than $32 million providing help to more than 800,000 worldwide. This year’s goal: $34 million. World Vision launched the Gift Catalog in 1996. Since then it’s raised over $162 million dollars. A goat ($75) is World Vision’s number one seller, but there are more than 100 gifts (many under $35) to choose from.

Salary.com Releases Average “Mom Salary” for both Working and Stay-at-Home Moms

WALTHAM, Mass., /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — With Mother’s Day less than a month away, moms are top of mind. This week, Salary.com released its yearly average for what stay-at-home and working mothers would make if they were paid an annual salary for their work.

“The data really speaks for itself – a mother’s work is valuable and tangible,” said Abby Euler, general manager at Salary.com. “We want to make sure that moms get the recognition and appreciation they deserve.”

For the 12th consecutive year, Salary.com’s Mom Salary Wizard has helped put a real dollar amount on all that moms do, both in and out of the home. The company collects data from actual mothers – both stay-at-home and working – to provide how many hours go into their mothering duties at home.

This year more than 8,000 moms quantified their hours by job description in order to compute the yearly average. Based on this data, Salary.com determined that the average stay-at-home mom juggles a 94.7 hour work week and a working mom manages 57.9 hours of work at home per week, in addition to the time she spends at work.

Taking into account overtime and using salary data provided by employers, an average stay-at-home mom’s 2012 total salary would be $112,962. A working mom’s at-home 2012 salary would be $66,979. A working mom’s at-home salary should be combined with her actual work salary in order to determine her yearly compensation.

Moms and their families can visit Salary.com’s Mom Salary Wizard (http://mom.salary.com) to calculate Mom’s salary and create a “mom paycheck” for Mother’s Day.
